Event Report: Dell Technologies World 2024
Accelerating Innovation
July 31, 2024
At the recent Dell Technologies World 2024 (DTW 2024) event in Las Vegas in May 24, 2024, KIOXIA showcased its cutting-edge flash memory and solid-state drive solutions. These innovations cater to a wide range of applications requiring flash storage, featuring new products, diverse form factors, and advanced standards. Designed to meet the evolving IT demands, KIOXIA offerings demonstrate a commitment to shaping the future of data storage.
As a Diamond Sponsor, KIOXIA and our solutions were prominently featured throughout the event. With a focus on the ways technology and AI are being used to accelerate from ideas to innovation, this year’s Dell Technologies World shined the spotlight on the transformational technologies and joint innovations that have the potential to unlock new insights from data, drive productivity gains, and imagine new ways of doing business.
High-performance SSDs from KIOXIA help to play a pivotal role in Dell AI solutions, facilitating the rapid data ingestion and retrieval essential for training LLM models. These models are crucial for driving the widespread adoption of generative AI and powering a wide array of other AI applications that would otherwise be hindered by slower storage devices.
KIOXIA showcased many live demos at the event with a strong focus on PCIe® 4.0 and PCIe® 5.0 SSDs, demonstrating the benefits in a variety of real-world server and storage configurations/workload combinations.
These demonstrations on Dell Technologies platforms included:
- SUSE® Harvester hyperconverged infrastructure featuring KIOXIA CD8 Series Data Center U.2 NVMeTM SSDs
- Milvus® Vector Database for AI workloads featuring KIOXIA CM7 Series Enterprise E3.S NVMe SSDs
- GDSIO GPU Direct / BaM featuring KIOXIA CM7 Series Enterprise U.2 NVMe SSDs
- MinIO® scale out storage featuring KIOXIA RM7 Series Value SAS SSDs
- Aerospike® low latency database featuring KIOXIA CD8P Series Data Center E3.S Data Center SSDs
- Scalable KIOXIA BiCS FLASH™ 3D flash memory technology solutions
In addition to the live demos, KIOXIA conducted two well-attended breakout sessions titled, “Accelerating Innovation with Next-Generation Dell PowerEdge® Servers and KIOXIA SSDs,” presented jointly with Dell Technologies that talked about how next-generation Dell PowerEdge servers are delivering increased efficiency with PCIe® 5.0 speeds, enabling faster performance and higher storage workload density. On PowerEdge 16G servers, the new EDSFF E3.S form factor allows KIOXIA SSDs to deliver higher performance to enable innovative new workloads, including AI training and vector databases. Utilizing improved signaling and thermal characteristics from the EDSFF form factor, KIOXIA can enable innovation from the edge to the cloud.
Additionally, Neville Ichhaporia, senior vice president and general manager of SSD Business Unit, KIOXIA America, Inc., was featured in a Dell Technologies World live interview, where Neville answers the questions:
- How are Dell and KIOXIA “accelerating ideas into innovation” for customers?
- With artificial intelligence as a game changing innovation, what are the demands on storage required to support the various phases of AI?
- What other innovations is KIOXIA working on that may benefit Dell customers?
KIOXIA was the sponsor of the DTW Customer and Partner Appreciation Event, an evening of food, beverage, and live performance for Dell Technologies World attendees, featuring Jerry Seinfeld, an American stand-up comedian, actor, writer and producer who has received numerous accolades.
DTW 2024 was a successful event, offering attendees a valuable platform to engage in meaningful discussions on AI and other transformative technological breakthroughs. As a Diamond Level Sponsor, KIOXIA was proud to continue its collaboration with Dell Technologies to develop best-in-class data storage solutions.
KIOXIA products help optimize Dell Technologies solutions across various business lines, including laptop and mobile computing, desktops, cloud services, enterprise servers, and storage.
Thank you all for stopping by and experiencing what KIOXIA has to offer.
- Definition of capacity: KIOXIA Corporation defines a megabyte (MB) as 1,000,000 bytes, a gigabyte (GB) as 1,000,000,000 bytes and a terabyte (TB) as 1,000,000,000,000 bytes. A computer operating system, however, reports storage capacity using powers of 2 for the definition of 1 GB = 2^30 = 1,073,741,824 bytes and therefore shows less storage capacity. Available storage capacity (including examples of various media files) will vary based on file size, formatting, settings, software and operating system, and/or pre-installed software applications, or media content. Actual formatted capacity may vary.
